Hapvida prepares secondary offering to raise R$3bn

Those who thought Hapvida was going to wait for the completion of the merger with Intermédica to make new inroads in the market were wrong.

The company plans to raise R$3 billion to R$4 billion through a secondary offering likely to be launched by this Wednesday, three sources say.

The coordinators are BTG Pactual, Bank of America, XP Investimentos, Credit Suisse, Itaú BBA and Citi. The company is eyeing new acquisitions. In addition, the proceeds will be used for the merger with Intermédica.

Hapvida's offering should further complicate things for healthcare newcomers waiting to launch their bids.
