Water in reservoirs of hydroelectric plants hit record low levels

The reservoirs of hydroelectric plants in the Southeast and Central-West regions of Brazil are expected to end the rainy season with only 37.7% of capacity, according to the Operator of the National Electricity System (ONS). It is the lowest since 2015, when there were fears about the risk of rationing. For April, the agency predicts that the subsystem's hydrology, which accounts for about 70% of the Brazilian hydroelectric plants' storage capacity, will be at 72% of the long-term average, the sixth worst record in 91 years.
