Eduardo Dacache seen as strong candidate to take over Banco do Brasil

Eduardo Dacache is closer to take over as CEO of Banco do Brasil (BB), replacing André Brandão, who wants to leave the job. Mr. Dacache is the chief executive of Caixa Seguridade, the insurance arm of state-run bank Caixa Econômica Federal, and has also worked at Santander and Safra.

Mr. Dacache is the favorite name of the Economy Minister Paulo Guedes, Central Bank President Roberto Campos Neto and Caixa CEO Pedro Guimarães, sources say. Yet President Jair Bolsonaro has the final say and this time he wants to pick someone he "really likes," a source familiar with the matter says.

Mr. Dacache is a senior executive in the banking industry. During Mr. Guimarães's administration, he was the vice-president of wholesale at Caixa, where he set up an operation more focused on small and medium-sized companies when the bank halted credit to big ones.
