Federal Police raids addresses of Bolsonaro’s son

Rio de Janeiro’s city councilor Carlos Bolsonaro, a son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, was the target of an operation served by the Federal Police on Monday to deepen the investigation into the existence of an alleged illegal espionage scheme by the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin) during the Bolsonaro administration. The suspicion is that a kind of "parallel Abin" was created to illegally monitor public authorities and political foes, in addition to gathering information on investigations that could affect Mr. Bolsonaro, his children, and allies. Also targeted were Luciana Paula Garcia da Silva Almeida (Carlos Bolsonaro’s cabinet advisor), Priscila Pereira e Silva (Mr. Ramagem’s former advisor), and Giancarlo Gomes Rodrigues (an army officer who worked for Abin during Mr. Ramagem’s administration).
