Joining protesters, Bolsonaro says the military is on his side

President Jair Bolsonaro joined a couple hundred protesters on Sunday who gathered in front of the Planalto Palace to criticize the Federal Supreme Court, Congress and former Justice and Public Security Minister Sergio Moro. A prior wave of demonstrations in April, joined by the president as well, is already under investigation for calling for military intervention. Federal Prosecutor-General Augusto Aras issued a statement announcing he will meet with his team on Monday to "analyze the facts" and decide his course of action. He had already called on Justice Alexandre de Moraes to open the prior investigation. Mr. Moraes also blocked the president from appointing his protégé to head the Federal Police as part of the crisis that led to the resignation of Mr. Moro, who testified on Saturday to federal agents for over eight hours.
