STF limits provisional measure designed to shield officials

The Federal Supreme Court (STF) decided Thursday to restrict the effects of Provisional Measure (MP) 966, devised to ease the accountability of officials for decisions made during the novel coronavirus pandemic. According to the MP enacted by the government last week, officials involved in the response to the pandemic and the damage it caused to the economy could only be punished if the intention of fraud or "gross error" is proven.
