Treasury plans to pay R$95bn government IOUs this Friday

The government is expected to issue a provisional presidential decree (MP) this week that will open up extraordinary credit for the payment of IOUs issued by the judiciary branch regarding federal IOUs, known in Brazil as "precatórios". The National Treasury’s idea is to make the payments on Friday, Valor has learned. The amount to be paid is expected to be just under R$95 billion.The appellate decision of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) authorizing the regularization of the stock was published on Tuesday, paving the way for the provisional presidential decree to be issued. The exact calculation of the accumulated liabilities has also been finalized.
