Abstract
This paper approaches the process of death and dying in the elderly, mentioning aging, the process of the end of life and the ethical and legal
focus on terminality. We aimed to broaden the understanding of the stages of life, dignifying the principle of autonomy. The foundation of
thinking focuses on the perceptions and experiences without undertaking useless or obstinate diagnostic or therapeutic actions, considering
the express wish of the patient or, if not possible, his/her legal representative. These events aim to contribute to the alteration of the essentially
technicist view surrounding medical assistance, as well as to help the humanization of the process of care to elderly terminal patients.
