Resumo: O objetivo da pesquisa é estudar sobre a identidade das mulheres ca-
tadoras de materiais recicláveis, tendo como lócus de pesquisa a Cooperativa
de Catadores de Materiais Recicláveis de Franca e Região (COOPERFRAN),
situada na cidade de Franca/SP. A pesquisa de campo se constitui numa entre-
vista estruturada com as 21 trabalhadoras da cooperativa. Com os resultados,
percebemos como que a questão do trabalho influencia na vida, no pensar e na
identidade dessas mulheres.

Abstract: The objective of the research is to study the identity of women
pickers of recyclable materials, being the locus of the research the Collec-
tors Cooperative of Recyclable Materials of Franca and Region (COOPER-
FRAN), located in the city of Franca/SP. The field research constituted of
structured interviews with the 21 workers of the cooperative. With the results
we perceived as the issue of labor influence in life, thinking and identity of
these women.
