Resumo: O trabalho representa uma etapa inicial no processo mais amplo de
entender a construção da prostituição através de um processo de abjeção.
Nesta etapa, nosso objetivo é estudar a prática da prostituição no contexto
dos discursos contemporâneos sobre a sexualidade, começando com a noção
de “dispositivo da sexualidade”, de Michel Foucault, revendo, em seguida, os
primeiros movimentos de organização coletiva das prostitutas na década de
1970. Analisamos também as diferentes formulações de lei e as propostas
atuais de redefinição do significado da prostituição que buscam construir uma
nova(?) imagem da prostituição de modo a enfrentar o estigma e a violência
sempre ligados ao ato prostitucional.

Abstract: This work tries to understand the construction of prostitution as a
process involving abjection, Our aim in this preliminary phase is to study the
practice of prostitution in the context of contemporary discourses on sexu-
ality starting from Michel Foucault’s notion of the “deployment of sexuality”
and reviewing the first movements of prostitutes’ collective organization since
the 1970’s. We also analyze the dierent law formulations and the redefinition
of the meaning of prostitution that are being proposed nowadays to build a
new(?) image of prostitution that will face the stigma and violence that have
been part of the prostitutional act.
