Abstract: The paper main objective is to analyz e the converging points that de-
monstrate t he importance of consol idating the proce ss of eradicating ch ild labor in
Brazil , Argentina and Ur uguay, based on ratic ations of internat ional conventions.
The technique of bibl iographical resea rch was used. T he method of approach is
the deductive and the monographic procedure was u sed. It was found that the
ratica tions of internation al conventions were miles tones in the ght aga inst child
labor in Bra zil, Argenti na and Uruguay. As a resu lt, legal protection s against chi ld
labor have been str uctured to guide the exec ution of public policy.

Resumo : O objetivo geral é analisar os pontos convergentes que demonstram a
importâ ncia da consolidação do processo de erradicação ao trabal ho infa ntil no
Brasil , Argentina e Uru guai, a parti r de raticações de convençõe s internacionai s.
Utilizou-se da técnica de pesqu isa bibliog ráca. O método de abordagem é o
dedutivo e o de proced imento o monográco. Constatou-se que as raticações
das convenções int ernacionais fora m marcos determi nantes para o enf rentamento
ao trabal ho infantil no â mbito do Brasil, Arg entina e Urugua i. Em consequência,
estrut urou-se proteções jur ídicas contra o tr abalho infa ntil que orienta m a execução
de ações de polít icas pública s.

1 INTRODUCTION
Currently, the exploitation of child labor i s a practice that has nume-
rous consequences for human development and the violation of the ri ghts
of children and adolescents, a reality in Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay.
Legal protection and the constitutionalization of fundamental
rights are signica nt steps towards the eradication of child labor. Thus,
the research is oriented to answer the problem: “What is the relevance
of the ratications of i nternationa l conventions in the legal protect ion
of the rights of children and adolescents in the process of eradicating
child labor in Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay?”
With this research, we sought to analyze the converging points
that demonstrate the import ance of consolidating the process of eradi-
cation of child labor in Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, through rati-
cations of internat ional conventions. To fulll this general objective,
the following specic objectives were structured i n the subdivisions of
the article: to verif y the ratication of the United Nations Convention
on the Rights of the Child and the establishment of the theoretical
basis for full protection; to demonstrate the ratication processes of
International Labor Organization Conventions 138 and 182; and to
explain the inuence of international conventions on the legal pro-
tection of the rights of children and adolescents, a fundamental step
in structuring the confrontation of child labor.
We used the technique of bibliographical resea rch. Dierent books,
scientic articles, theses, dissertations and legislations were studied. The
method of approach was the deductive and the procedure the monogr aphic.
